Born and raised in the beautiful city of Vienna, Melanie began her career in advertising, where she worked as an interactive art director for major brands like Kunst Haus Wien (Museum Hundertwasser), Peugeot and Telekom Austria.

In 2006 she decided to move to London, where she received her MA degree in communication design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

During the college years, Melanie became highly fascinated with the latest developments in touchscreen technology and user-centred design, which resulted in the research and development of the interactive app for multitouch-able surfaces called Digital Volvelles 1.0. In 2009 she also collaborated on another interactive app called Vispol for the German police in Hessen.

From 2009 to 2012 Melanie worked as an interactive senior designer for the BBC in London, where she got involved in tablet, mobile and responsive web work. She was the lead designer of the BBC Weather redesign, which launched in 2011 and introduced a new informative design for the hourly weather data in 2012.

Her blog about the design process of the latest BBC Weather site on the BBC Internet blog was the most shared blog of 2011.

In May 2012 Melanie moved back to her hometown Vienna in Austria, where she set herself up as an interactive communication designer. Besides her client work, Melanie lectured (interactive) information design at the New Design University St. Pölten.

Since February 2015 Melanie has been working full-time as head of ux & design at the startup company Ulmon and has been since responsible for the changes in the look&feel of the app CityMaps2Go.
